Fire up those ovens; it’s finally here! We are proud to announce the debut of our pre-prepared goods line, The Wi******er Kitchen. Our first two items are a breakfast match made in heaven. Kishu Mandarins start our seasonal marmalade flavors off with sweet, citrus tang. Of course, our release wouldn’t be complete without our House Currant Scone Mix. On our menu since we opened in 1983, now you can take the taste of vacation home with you. Available now in our gift shop at 35 South 2nd St, Ashland OR, 97520.

These ladies may weave a web, but it’s never tangled! We were so thrilled to host The Webster’s Yarn Store for another knitting retreat. Store Owner Laurel McKee and our innkeepers have four retreats total set up this year. Each retreat brings in a new instructor to teach a unique pattern or style of knitting to pupils from all over the country. The group enjoys all of the luxurious accommodations of The Wi******er as well as dinner at both Chateaubriand 36 and Alchemy. We feel so fortunate to be a part of them making memories, friends and beautiful pieces of art. To browse accommodations, visit winchesterinn.com or call 541-488-1113 with questions. For retreat inquiries, visit yarnatwebsters.com for contact information.

Perhaps it’s the inn’s origins as a family residence that makes our guests truly feel at home. Fordyce Roper and his wife, Julia, traveled up from Southern California to purchase the Ashland Flour Mill. In 1886, The Fordyce Roper House was erected as the most expensive home built in Ashland that year. The home marks a significant time in Ashland’s history as it showcases the development encouraged by the railways arrival in 1884. One of our innkeeper’s, Laurie Gibbs, is our resident historian and was able to find these photos of Fordyce and Julia. In honor of the man who dreamt up the manor, we have our Fordyce Suite. Located in the Main House (but, of course) and one of our original seven rooms, the king suite allows you to enjoy the home’s intended charm. Book The Fordyce Suite online at winchesterinn.com or on the phone at 541-488-1113.

Introducing the new and returning culinary mind behind Alchemy, Chef Mike Stewart. A familiar face to many of our guests, Mike returns to lead the kitchen as Head Chef after years of helping shape Alchemy’s culinary identity as Sous Chef.

Mike began his culinary career at 18 while waiting tables at 38 Central, where helping with catering events first sparked his interest in the kitchen. After the restaurant closed, he spent time working in several sushi restaurants before collaborating with a number of talented local chefs throughout the Rogue Valley.

His five years at Larks became his unofficial culinary school, shaping both his technique and philosophy in the kitchen. Mike later had the opportunity to work under celebrity chef Ming Tsai at the Yellowstone Club, further refining his craft.

After serving as Alchemy’s Sous Chef for several years, Mike took a brief time away before returning to take the helm as Head Chef. With a natural knack for cooking and a deep passion for hospitality, he brings creativity, experience, and heart to every dish that leaves the kitchen. Photo credit:
