We are so blessed to have been a part of life's most celebrated occasions with so many people. Seems I always get most excited for the newlyweds. Congratulations Jenna and Michael, 9.26.26!

Who says salads aren't for breakfast? Today we featured fresh burrata cheese on a bed of homegrown basil, topped with summer's bounty of fresh tomatoes, sprinkled with simple seasonings and garnished with radish microgreens.

Same flower. AM pic and PM pic. Hibiscus hybrid called Sunset. Change probably due to afternoon heat stress. More typical in hybrids. Still, so beautiful! Makes me happy🥰

This week I wanted to highlight The Roost here in Ashland!

I haven’t personally stayed there, but a few years back, before I ever got involved in local politics, I had the opportunity to install the windows there through my window and door company. That gave me a chance to see the property up close and get to know a little more about what Frank and Marybeth have created.

If you’ve driven by The Roost, you’ve probably noticed the house. It’s a beautiful historic home with a ton of character, and they’ve done an awesome job keeping that charm while turning it into a really unique bed-and-breakfast.

They have several different rooms for guests, and one of the things I think is really cool is that they cook breakfast from scratch for the people staying there. It’s the kind of personal touch you just don’t get staying at a typical hotel.

Frank and Marybeth do an awesome job with the place, and it’s another great option we have right here in Ashland for people coming to visit our community.

If you have friends or family coming into town and they’re looking for somewhere a little different to stay, definitely keep The Roost in mind!

"Waste not, want not"

What to do with all that delicious fruit? A summer cobbler is the answer!
This one is leftover fresh seasonal fruit (peaches, blackberries and blueberries) in a sweetened honey base, cobblered with a traditional sweet southern biscuit recipe ( with a touch of cinnamon added). Sprinkle raw sugar on top of bowls and bake at 350 degrees until bubbly and golden brown.
