I had never even heard of Ashland when I set out to hike the PCT in 2025.
But by the time I rolled into Oregon, absolutely filthy with a torn shirt, ridiculous beard, and with a freshly picked wildflower in my wild hair, it was obvious that Ashland was special.
A walkable vibrant downtown, world class theater, gorgeous parks and public spaces, and a real dining and drinks scene, plus amazing resupply options with everything I needed to survive my final 1,000 miles on the PCT.
I didn’t want to leave. And now I don’t have to.
I’m blessed to call Ashland home now. And also blessed to run the hostel that welcomes hikers, school groups, bicycle mechanics and theater buffs to this incredible mountain town in Southern Oregon.
