The Benjamin Young Inn will be under new ownership in 2024!
With bittersweet emotions we are pleased to announce the sale of the Benji effective 1/2/2024. We have had many amazing years together and we so appreciate all of the love and support we have received from our community.
The new owners will not be continuing the full service B&B model but it may be available for events and whole house rentals. Please contact [email protected] for information.
All of our Love,
Carolyn, Holly, Lorin, Emma, and Carly

We had a guest stay with us a few months back who took some pretty wonderful pictures of the inn. Thank you so much Helen Fong for taking these and allowing me to share!!! I love getting to see the Benji from your perspective💖 Especially the rooms filled with sunshine, since these sunny days are quickly running out!!

(This post is a little late, but I thought I should introduce myself here on FB, and not just Instagram 😆🤙🏼)

Hello world! I’m Carly Keone, the current innkeeper for the Benjamin Young Inn. It’s been an exciting couple months for me here at the Benji, but now that summer is winding down I can’t help but think back on how amazing this journey has been so far. Not to mention how honored I am to be a part of this beautiful inn’s history! I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working here as the housekeeper for many years, and stepping into a managerial role now has been one of the most fulfilling opportunities of my life so far! I’d love to share this journey with you. Hope to see you soon!!

Here’s what I’ve made. I have countless versions and layers of these logos. I feel like I can draw our house in my sleep, bc I’ve re-drawn it so many times. Do you have a favorite? I was going for a doily feel. We have tons of crocheted tablecloths and doilies throughout the house so it seemed relevant. I also tried to mimic some of the house’s Queen Anne architectural characteristics, but I think I missed the mark there.

The Benjamin Young Inn or as we like to call it The Benji - Built in 1888 at Duane and 36th street. The property line ended at the riverbank. Situated in Astoria’s Uppertown neighborhood, 1.5 miles East of downtown. Ben Young was a sea captain and Swedish emigrant who made most of his early wealth owning salmon canneries. The two that we know of were The Scandinavian Packing Co and The Fisherman’s Packing Co. He also started the Astoria Savings Bank, owned real estate and became a politician. His oldest daughter inherited the house. She became one of University of Oregon’s first female graduating doctors and practiced in family medicine. The house remained in Ben Young’s family for 100 years. In 1979 his descendants got the house and carriage house on the National Register of Historic Places. My husband Lorin’s Grandparents bought the house in 1994. Next year will be our 30th year of owning the Ben Young House. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in a little tour. We also do private tea parties for up to 10.
