Misty Copeland brings grace, strength, and history to Lavender Hill 🩰✨

As the first African-American Principal Ballerina for the American Ballet Theatre, Misty shattered barriers and redefined what was possible in classical ballet. Her journey—one of perseverance, artistry, and unwavering determination—continues to inspire dancers everywhere who've been told they don't belong on certain stages.

At Lavender Hill, we honor her legacy and celebrate the beautiful continuation of that story right here in Athens. We're proud to recognize former UGA dancers and Arts professionals, Martine Philippe and Courtney Juste, as well as Pamoja Dance at UGA—artists who carry forward the tradition of excellence, grace, and representation that Misty fought so hard to establish.

This is an ode to Misty and to all African-American dancers who move with power, beauty, and purpose. Who claim their space. Who inspires the next generation to leap higher and dream bigger.

Art knows no boundaries. Excellence has no color. And at Lavender Hill, we celebrate both.
