Built in 1989, Jorma and Vanessa Kaukonen looked at a piece of land in Meigs and conceived what Jorma calls "a ranch that grows guitar players."

A legendary flagship location and thousands of students later, classes are now hosted around the U.S. It should be noted that while "guitar" is always spoken here, there is also instruction on a host of other instruments from bass guitar to lap steel guitar, mandolin and percussion, vocals and songwriting. Our lives are full. David and I wrapped up two weeks on Martha’s Vineyard teaching two separate finger-style guitar classes. As always, we feel blessed to be able to continue our Fur Peace On The Road classes in these special places. We couldn’t do the MV experience without the graciousness of David Wolff and of course our Fur Peace alum. There’s always a few days in between classes to take it all in. I got to play a show at the wonderful MV Film Center and sit in with David at a fun joint called Town in Edgartown and spend the day walking my favorite beach. Like they say, ‘Life is Good’ ! See you at the next On The Road Workshops in San Diego in early 2027.

The Owsley Stanley Foundation presents its third chapter in the Bear’s Sonic Journals series: Before We Were Them, Jorma Kaukonen & Jack Casady, Veterans Memorial Building, June 28, 1969, available for the first time on 2 LP electric orange and blue colored vinyl.

This live concert recording features music from Jefferson Airplane’s fabled guitar and bass players before they became known as Hot Tuna, including a previously-unreleased bonus track, “Uncle Sam’s Blues.”
