The Mosaic Literary Conference is happening at 12pm EST on zoom! ❣️⚡️This year’s theme “Revolution of Radical Change” is about acknowledging and naming the ways that activists, community organizers, poets, archivists, photographers, and writers are confronting and creating new ways of resistance and creating joy against fascism, historical erasure, and oppression.💥Today a brilliant group of people will share their experiences, thoughts and questions about what revolution of radical change means in each of their respective fields and places. We will hear from folks based in North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Queens, NY and of course The Bronx.🌞

Our keynote speaker is the legendary Dr. Cleo Silvers Someone close to my heart for close to 17 years and a living revolutionary of our times. 💐

We gather understanding the double edged sword that exists from living in the United States, the worlds leading imperialist country and the impact that has on social justice movements globally. Thinking about the Black and indigenous movements in Brasil, Haiti, Ecuador, Iran, Palestine and the ways the United States playbook of imperialism plays out in the Global South to squash movements of radical change. Today we speak from the belly of the beast with our hearts on our sleeves. 🎤❤️‍🔥

Thank you to Ron Kavanaugh for your passion for literature, community and vanguard leadership of The Literary Freedom Project. 📚

It's during the hard times in life when our friends showing up for us can make the difference of getting through. I recently had the pleasure of shooting a fashion editorial with two young men who have been friends thier whole life. Their friendship took the main stage as neither one of them had ever done a photoshoot before but that didnt stop them for knocking it out the park. The fact that they just came to have fun and be themselves reminded me why telling the story you know is what matters most!

S/o to their parents for supporting them through the whole creative experience! Wardrobe Design, Styling, Make-Up & Grooming by the very talented who also happens to be the Mom of one of the young sirs!💪🏽👑🖤

Yesterday invited me to hang out and see some art but had no idea it would lead to such a great experience to be inspired and to see art family I hadnt seen since Miami Art Basel last year. Showing up puts you in a place that won't leave you wondering what could of/would of happened had you just been present.

I continue to support her evolving story to provide her with the things I never had access to and hopefully guide her around some of the pitfalls I fell into early on in my own creative journey. "To whom much is given, much is required."

So much can be said about my Dad's impact on my life and there are so many beautiful memories that he has left me w/ to refer to for the rest of my life. This particular memory was in the early 2000's during our time camping and backpacking in Ancourage, Alaska. It is because of him that I feel so comfortable with nature and the outdoorsman experience. Out of a life well lived I will cherish his love most of all. Remembering to share that same love unconditionally for myself and everyone I should meet on my path going forward.🖤

It was a great experience working on this book project with my mentor, Aaron F. Henderson. I have worked under his creative guidance for more than 7 years on my journey in the arts. He has continued to tell me during this endeavor "I want you to be present every step of the way so you will be ready when it's your turn."🙏🏽I heard & recieved---->Tell Your Story! It was a honor to serve as photographer and photo editor for the book.
|
Fight On by Aaron F. Henderson artist and author is a visual interpretation of the African American Spirituals and brings together three dynamic elements to tell the story of the African American Spirituals Tradition: Sixty-two paintings from a series by artist Aaron F. Henderson, the lyrics of fifty-six spiritual songs, and narrative writings by scholars of art and culture, and Henderson himself. The elements come together to make this more than an art book, a lyric book, autobiography or cultural commentary. Fight On is a celebratory document of African American Culture, giving evidence to how Black People in a nation that grew rich and powerful on the strength of their unpaid labor survived and liberated themselves.

Creating is very much so a form of meditation for me. As I continue to stretch my creative wings I am grateful that there is no ceiling above my head to limit me on my journey as an artist.
