Atlanta Alpaca Tree House in the Bamboo Forest

Atlanta Alpaca Tree House in the Bamboo Forest Visit us on AIRBNB and book your unique, relaxing experience in the luxury treehouse, surrounded by both a bamboo forest and a herd of alpacas. Why?

The Space

You wake up on the queen size memory foam bed in a climate-controlled loft and peer out the large skylight at the swaying zen bamboo. Roosters crow nearby because you are on a working farm, in City of Atlanta. You are 15 feet above the forest floor, tucked into the middle of a 80- year old bamboo forest. And there are friendly beautiful Bolivian alpacas (like a small llama) roaming abou

t below. Because they live here and at the moment, two of them are pregnant. This treehouse was built with all reclaimed materials so you have the feeling you are in a historic room with the multi-colored walls of heart of pine beaded board. But the two skylights, with views of the bamboo canopy above, shed dappled light through the vaulted ceiling and remind you that's it's not 1900. The treehouse features several pieces of late 1800s stained glass, heart of pine floors from an old church, 120 year old French doors that open onto a wrap- around catwalk, a composting toilet water closet, heat and air, and electrical throughout. You'll want to sip your coffee or a glass of wine on the large treehouse porch, held up by black locust trees still sporting their bark. Or maybe you'll want to walk around the deck of the tree house to check out the bamboo forest or the alpacas. The tree house roof is clad in 1871 South Georgia barn tin, so if it rains, you'll have a night of percussive rhythm. Our stairs are live edge heart cedar and works of art. The treehouse is wrapped in cedar and 120 year-old unpainted heart of pine siding salvaged off an old Atlanta house (the porch, so it wasn't painted). We furnished our treehouse in antiques and we have a composting toilet, a small fridge, a coffee maker, reverse osmosis filtered water, a selection of local wines to purchase, and an antique wash basin to wash your face. Guest Access

We have room to sleep 4 guests. We have a pull out full size sleeper sofa in the main room of the tree house with high-thread count beautiful linens and a memory foam topper. And we have a Queen size memory foam bed in the sleeping loft. The treehouse boasts a private water closet with a composting toilet, as well as a private, fully dedicated marble bathroom with a gorgeous walk in shower, vintage sink and toilet, located in the basement of the granite house nearby. We have a firepit, a covered large tree house porch, and bicycles are provided to ride down to East Atlanta Village (or to the Glen Emerald Lake) if you'd like to use them. Interaction with Guests

We live in the granite house and are available if you have questions. We are happy to give you a tour of our working farm of endangered ducks and chickens. Breakfast: You will be staying on a working urban farm. We grow our own organic fruits and vegetables and have 20 some pampered spoiled chickens and ducks that lay beautiful organic eggs. My daughter says: "you can taste the love." Breakfast is $15 extra and needs to be ordered when you make your reservation. It will be a scrambled organic eggs or omelette, fresh fruit, and freshly-made baked goods. The Neighborhood

The Neighborhood of East Atlanta
The neighborhood is residential but we are a working farm, so you'll hear the crowing of roosters although somewhat muffled by the bamboo. But be mindful that you're in Atlanta and you may hear the occasional siren or traffic sounds during your stay. You'll also hear the birds that live in the bamboo, the humming of alpacas, and the quacking of the nearby ducks. Getting Around

We provide bicycles for your convenience. There is public MARTA bus a short walk down from the Alpaca Treehouse. UBER is always a few minutes away. And you have free parking if you have a car. Other Things to Note

Parking is available at the alpaca corral. There is a dedicated path through the alpaca corral to the treehouse in the middle of the bamboo forest. There is another dedicated path to the private marble bathroom in the basement of the granite house.

The llamas and guanacos get jobs in customer service for their carrot addiction. But mainly for snark.

Greegor is safe with my friends! Oy the seasonal allergies! 😭😭😭

Huge thanks to Stephanie Hinnant for her masterful behind the scenes work pairing my friends with a rescue and getting this gorgeous good boy to safety. You guys have no idea what the shelter staff and the shelter volunteers can pull off and Stephanie is literally an American hero. These folks are fighting day in and day out to get these dogs to safety and I'm in awe of what they do.

I didn't sleep for three nights with worry and my gratitude/joy/relief is down to the bone marrow.

A huge absolutely heartfelt thank you to those of you that shared and commented. It makes all the difference to these gorgeous fur people. 🙏🏼❤️

This sweet boy just won the lottery! And apparently he smells terrible so he's going to need a bath 🤣 ❤️

EDIT: OKAY NOW WE HAVE A FOSTER BUT NEED A RESCUE!

I need y'all's help desperately. This is Greegor. He's a stunning silver fox of a husky dog. I will give you his run down below, but this guy has been earmarked for euthanasia by no fault of his own.

He did not like the adopter's roommate (apparently a gentleman not liked by other dogs--foreshadowing) and growled at him. The roommate is large and loud, (according to the adopters that brought him back to the shelter.) And then the shelter designated him as a RESCUE ONLY. He has only until Sept 1st for placement before he is put down. IMO, THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF GREEGOR.

Okay, so this dog is apparently amazing at playgroup and lovely--even some volunteers that believe that huskies are sort of "crackheads" think he's a cool dude.

Please don't let him die!

So next chapter of the story! The adopters then returned to the Dekalb shelter and adopted another husky named Tobby. And then they returned HIM TOO! Guess why?

The second adopted husky did not like their roommate either. HMMMMMMM.

So what is the common denominator here?

Can someone please help Greegor? I'm begging!

Here is his bio.

Greegor doesn't need hundreds of people to save him.
He needs ONE person. One rescue. One foster. One commitment. One person to say, “I’ll take him.”
Please don't let this sweet boy become another heartbreaking story simply because no one stepped forward in time.
RESCUES — PLEASE STEP UP FOR GREEGOR.
FOSTERS — PLEASE CONSIDER OPENING YOUR HOME.
EVERYONE — PLEASE SHARE.
His life could depend on the next person who sees this post.
Greegor is waiting for someone to believe he is worth saving. Please let that someone be you.

The Riversong Forest Retreat peeps all had an amazing time. And they were all delightful and they were all messaging me asking questions about the property which honestly I enjoy. I'm passionate about the beauty of the land, the wildlife, the nature.

And they were all reconnecting with their important people, celebrating anniversaries, and that is an honor.

And when they report that they had an incredible time and we made their lives a little bit better, it's so satisfying.

And as a reminder of the people that do the heavy lifting in Alabama are not me.

Shelia & Terry are the incredible couple that keep people happy, the Buildings clean and functional and keep this place vibrant. And we are infinitely grateful for them!❤️❤️❤️

Some days, our rescue/hosting life feels surreal. There was a crazy honor to host Angus Young and his beautiful sweet wife, Ella at the Llama Stay Cottage. We always safeguard our celeb's stay while they are here. But such an honor to have a Rock Legend.
