Executive Chef Russell Sleight began his hotel career in 1986 after graduating Sullivan County Culinary School. Chef Sleight who is originally from New York started his career with the Marriott Corporation at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis and was with the company for 10 years. Chef Sleight joined Starwood Hotels and Resorts in 1998 at the Westin Perimeter North and promoted to the Westin Peachtree Plaza in 2004. During his journey with Westin he has assisted in opening other Starwood Hotels in the Caribbean, South and Mid West area of the United States.

Chef Sleight brings a tremendous amount of culinary knowledge, leadership and commitment to both the guest satisfaction and associate engagement. Over the past several years Chef Sleight has proven to be a driven and respected leader at the Westin Peachtree Plaza.

During his career with Westin his hotel was chosen to host Starwood’s Board of Directors annual meeting in which culinary cuisines from around the world was perfectly prepared with delicate touches, unique flavors and presentations.


Spending quality time searching for the highest quality food Chef Sleight has a strong drive to research and develop trendy and quality foods. Seasonally Chef Sleight visits local farmers to tour their facilities and hand choose the freshest, sustainable and organic products for his guest at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. Chef Sleight was invited to appear on the “Dishing with Donna” show. This local radio show that features Atlanta’s top Chefs and celebrity Chefs to discuss views on culinary trends and happenings in the culinary field.

Chef Sleight was honored in Starwood’s Human Resources “Spot Light” for embracing the “Chefs Move to School” a program announced in 2010 by the North America Food & Beverage team. This program serves as a great opportunity to get our Chefs out of the hotel’s kitchen and involved with local communities; while supporting first lady Obama’s initiative, Let’s Move Campaign to solve the childhood obesity epidemic. Through “Chefs Move to School” program Starwood recognizes that our particular group has a tremendous impact on the health and well-being of our children…our Nation’s Chefs!
