Focused on protecting profitability and identifying growth opportunities, the IHG Owners Association's Europe Commercial Committee recently met at InterContinental Cascais-Estoril.

Led by Chair Mandy Pugh alongside IHG’s Jesper Johansen, the group discussed trends, challenges and opportunities shaping hotel performance in 2027 and beyond. Members reviewed market insights and commercial priorities across distribution, sales, loyalty, groups and meetings and marketing, with a focus on owner performance and profitability. From focused discussions to a few lighter moments, the IHG Owners Association's EMEAA People Committee gathered in Windsor for a productive meeting chaired by Sarah Brocklebank of Atlas Hotels and Mustafa Denlisoz of IHG. The committee reviewed owner feedback from recent Regional Owner Meetings, discussed enhancements to leadership development and attractions support, and explored ways to evolve the Hotel Ready process through stronger change management and leadership practices. Serious conversations, strong collaboration and a shared commitment to supporting owners, hotels and people across the region made for a valuable day filled with productivity and reconnecting.

A productive day in Windsor as the IHG Owners Association’s EMEAA Sustainability Committee, chaired by Tim Wheeldon, met to reflect on 2026 and set priorities for 2027. Discussions focused on the commercialization of sustainability and turning ESG ambitions into practical initiatives that deliver business value. The committee also welcomed STX for valuable insights on funding, education and best practices across key markets. A special thank you to Cat O'Donovan from IHG for her leadership and partnership as she co-chaired her final committee meeting before returning to Australia.
