Friends, Residents and Beach Club Lovers,

Welcome to the 1815 Ocean Blvd page! In our attempt to be good neighbors, we intend to be fully transparent and share with you our intentions for the development of this property.

We are seeking approval for the construction of a new luxury beach club at 1815 Ocean Blvd. For 60 years this address was the location of Little Plaza Beach Club before it was destroyed and dismantled. Currently, 1815 Ocean Blvd is an unused, and unsecured lot on the beach front of Ocean Blvd. Although the existent beach clubs provide a nostalgic connection to summers of yesteryear, they cannot be re-built due to the FEMA and current building codes. The proposed new beach club would be a spectacular addition to the natural landscape and in many ways a great benefit to the Village of Atlantic Beach
We plan on building a unique beach club facility that reflects the beauty and integrity of the homes in our area. This club will be a beautiful, modern, two-story building with state of the art indoor and outdoor amenities including a heated pool, hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, locker rooms, dining, and valet parking. The exterior design of this facility will include stucco, stone, glass and other natural/sustainable materials that are made to withstand the marine elements and atmosphere, affording it the ability to maintain its elegant look year-round.

Included in the design are multiple sun decks and a rooftop deck highlighting the gorgeous ocean views. 1815 will function as a full-service beach club with complete cabana service for members. We have also allocated parking into the design which will be located under the building.
Upon entering the beach club, members will be greeted by our Concierge in the beautifully appointed lobby and lounge area. The elevated first floor will feature the club shop, spa services, locker changing rooms and the administrative offices. The country club style locker rooms will contain spacious lockers, showers, changing rooms, towel service, toiletries and restrooms. Each locker room will have direct access to the first-floor sun deck, pool and beach. This model will be the first of its kind in the beach club concept since building on the ground floor is no longer permitted according to FEMA regulations

The second floor will feature open, air-conditioned indoor space and outdoor seating. This multi-purpose area will be used for yoga, fitness, meditation classes, member activities and special events for members. The second floor will also contain additional restrooms, a café, dining area, and a kitchen. The entire second floor south facing wall will feature ceiling to floor energy efficient glass overlooking the pool, sundeck, the beach and direct views of the Atlantic Ocean. 1815’s proposed roof-top sun deck with will provide gorgeous southern views of the pool, oceanfront, and spectacular sunsets.
To ensure the safety of our beach club members, there will be two emergency staircases at either side of the building, a full fire alarm and sprinkler system, and 24-hour surveillance security system.

The prefabricated portable lockers and cabanas will be designed to fit under the boardwalk and will be placed on an existing foundation and removed every season. This new system will replace the existing beach club model from year-round structures that were built under the boardwalk and affixed to the boardwalk.

I have had the distinct pleasure of being a business owner here in Atlantic Beach these past several years at New York Beach Club. I have witnessed the many improvements and services that have taken place in the Village under this Board’s direction which include the tennis center, community garden, new boardwalk lights, additional community landscaping and the redevelopment of Ocean Boulevard.

The development of 1815 Ocean Blvd will create more jobs in our community and increase the commercial tax base for our village, schools and county. We have spent years carefully planning and designing a smart, resilient, energy efficient and sustainable facility. Not only will it be a beautiful addition to the renewed Ocean Boulevard strip of beach clubs but will set the precedent for the future of beach clubs in Atlantic Beach.

I hope that you can see and appreciate the passion in this vision. Our team looks forward your input and support.

Thank you,
Alexander Jacobson
