We finally got to go see one of Western Iowa’s newest neighbors, the Dambo Troll “Fjord Færgemand”! Honoring Danish immigration to the US and Iowa in particular, the 22 foot sculpture is made of “garbage wood” and makes for quite a sight and easy day trip from the Lodge!

The town of approximately 650 is known for being the largest rural concentration of Danish heritage in the United States. The festival is held every year on Memorial Day weekend.
