Now retired, Ted is a former biochemist, farrier (horse shoeing), and restaurant owner. They both hunt and fly-fish, groom cross-country skiing and hiking trails from the front door. They are active in maintaining and monitoring cold water trout streams as they live at the triple continental divide with the origins of the Allegheny, Genesee and Sinnemahoning Rivers. They have a small vineyard and
fruit orchard, grow their own blueberries and strawberries, and harvest wild elderberries and blackberries. They tap their own maple trees for syrup and are starting bee-keeping. Amenities
Their is a double bedroom and bath on the first floor; a double bedroom and bunk room share a bath on the second floor. Depending on how cozy you want to be, we can accomodate 6 visitors at a time. Heat is from a wood stove and water comes from the fresh water spring which feeds the pond. Part of the deck is a screened porch with a hot tub. There is no cell service at this time, nor any wi-fi signal. Only internet is dial-up, very limited service. But you will see wild turkey, deer, bear, ducks and more from the deck. You can step out the front door to fish the pond or start hunting. Our black lab, Duke, is always eager to help out in any activity - friendly companion, as well as an experienced grouse and fishing guide! Fly-tying desk, washer,dryer and refrigerator are available to guests. At night, star-gaze into the darkest skies of the Northeast. We serve locally raised eggs and locally grown and made bacon, sausage and ham. You will find wild leeks (ramps) in your scrambled eggs in the spring, our own maple syrup and blueberries on your pacakes, and soon our own honey. Our own strawberries and rhubarb find their way into coffeecake and pie. Hunting
Potter County is renowned for its great hunting. Fall has archery season for deer, turkey and grouse season; bear season runs befores the famed deer season in December. Grouse season starts up again, then the spring gobbler season opens. Hunting starts from the front door. Fishing
All levels of experience are welcome. Walk with us along one of the pristine freestone trou streams here to discover the habitat of wild brook and brown t rout, observe the wild flowers, birds and butterflies - all the things that make small stream trout fishing experience a delight. On our pond and on-stream casting lessons, guiding, stream tactics and match-the-hatch instructions are avilable. Ted has been hunting and fishing in Potter County since his teens, and has a lot of expertise to share. He has worked in -fishing and hunting departments at Bass Pro, Backpacker Shop, Ramsey Outdoors, and Gander Mountain. He is an experienced teacher of fly casting and fly tying. Vineyard
There are approximately 60 red-wine grape vines in the vineyard. There is a Blessing of the Vines event in mid-June every year. Grapes are harvested and stomped every September. Locally grown wild apples, elderberries and black berries turn into wine and champagne as well.
