This is the Cliff Gazebo at Hyatt Ziva Cancun. Built right on the point, with the Caribbean on three sides.

Empty, it already stops us in our tracks. Dressed for a ceremony, with florals over the gazebo and chairs lined up toward the water, it is a different level entirely.

An attrition clause is the line in your room block contract that says how many rooms have to actually get booked, and what you owe the resort if they do not. It is usually a few pages in, written in contract language, and signed by people who skimmed it.

Our blog post covers what triggers the fee, the three parts of a room minimum, and how much the deposit changes depending on who holds the contract. Approximately $100 per room through us, up to $15,840 for a 20-room block booking direct.

To be fair about it, none of this is impossible to manage on your own. Plenty of couples do. It is just ten to twenty pages of terms and a set of deadlines to track during a season that already has enough moving parts. And once the contract is signed directly with the resort, the terms are final, so timing matters more than anything else here.

Our resort selection and room block management are completely complimentary. Resorts pay us out of their own marketing budgets, so you pay the same rate either way.
