Best. Cookies. In. Breck. next door to All of their cookies are gooey goodness but also do you know how hard it is to make a delicious gluten free cookie??

If we are dining in, we walk to Tin Plate where the best.pizza.ever (in US) is and you can order those cookies with your meal. It’s a 10-15 minute walk downhill. Home is uphill and that works for me because I just ate a pizza and a cookie.

Breck has definitely stepped up its dining game and should be on your list for a special night out. Lots of family style, upscale Italian from the flawless team (still my very favorite). Reservations recommended. Right on Main. Balcony looking over the Blue River is stunning in summer.

I’ll take a frozen anything…
One of my favorite SoCo patios is San Jose Hotel. The space is pretty intimate, they have a my favorite frosé and good bar snacks. Great place to kick off the evening or pop in after some shopping.

Summer is here! I find an easy option for bike rentals, just an 8 min walk from the house to Main. They have e-bikes, mountain and road, plus accessories. Your best deal is to reserve online in advance. Typically $60/day online. Daily rates go down for multiple days.

Austin still has a few dance hall bars. is one of my favorite located in East Austin (which is home to many amazing restaurants and bars)

Free dance lessons every weekend from 7-8 pm. Great live music and plenty of PBR (and all the other things).

Coming to Austin this summer? Now is a great time to book your trip to Hamilton Pool, an utterly gorgeous natural spring just outside of Austin. Reservations are required and they go fast! Most Sat/Sun are already booked so get in on a Friday or weekday.

A short walk from Casa SoCo is , a super chill, casual joint that is 70% outside and shaded. Great margs, tacos and ❤️ their kale Cesar salad. Super family friendly with a playground.

The back bar at is a great place to be aprés ski. Kind of an old school, saloon/mine town vibe, I really like 1) the Snack Menu which has variety (including escargot) and last time I was there, was a 2:1 happy hour deal and 2) they serve quartinos, 1/3 bottle of wine and have a great selection of French and Italian (my jam) along with American.

And! You can order giant steaks from them to take home and grill yourself. Fortunately Royal Tiger has a brand new gas grill so you can have the best of both worlds. Check out the “butcher shop” option on their website.

This would be a - reserve in advance for nice, white tablecloth, steak dinner - kind of place also

Authentic Austin live music venue, an incredibly short walk from Casa SoCo - you can never go wrong with Soul, R&B and that old Austin sound. Jimmie Vaughan is a frequent guest.

Last minute cancelation! Jan 6 -10 is open at Royal Tiger Chalet in Breckenridge. All peaks are open, more snow coming and the house is perfect. 🙂
