Larry Eisenberg. Someone to everyone. ❤️
If you’ve lived in Austin for any length of time, chances are pretty good you know Larry.
And if you know Larry, chances are even better that Larry knows *you*.
For decades, he was the familiar face welcoming people through the doors at Perkins - the guy who somehow knew every name, remembered every family, and made a restaurant feel a little more like home.
But to me, Larry is something even more.
When I moved to Austin in 2013, I was seven months pregnant, knew almost no one, and was trying to figure out where this new chapter of my life was going to take me. I fell back on my restaurant roots, took a chance, and applied at Perkins.
Larry took a chance on me.
And in so many ways, that changed the course of my life.
He became my boss, my mentor, and one of the greatest influences on the leader I am today. Larry taught me that you can lead with hospitality, heart, and incredibly high standards all at the same time. He showed me that knowing your people matters. That showing up matters. That how you make people feel matters.
I would not be where I am today without him.
So you can imagine just how ridiculously excited—and genuinely honored—I am to finally say this:

Larry has traded in his Perkins leadership hat for something considerably more fun: slingin’ drinks behind the bar at Torge’s!
You can find that famous smile behind our bar every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 11 AM–5 PM.
And Larry has made one thing very clear:
He wants you to come say hello.
So come have lunch. Pull up a stool. Order something delicious. Catch up with the man who has spent decades catching up with all of you.
And here's where it gets REALLY fun...
If you're lucky, your lunch might just be coming from Ann Jette - Larry's longtime Perkins Kitchen Manager, who recently joined our DoubleTree family as our Bistro Chef (which PS is also open to the public!) and is cross-training at Torge's.

Their location may have changed, but the warmth, hospitality and quality that made so many people love them certainly hasn't.
And no matter who you get when you swing on by? You'll get quality service. Because this represents exactly the kind of hospitality you can expect from all of us! Truly we are becoming what we've always meant to be over here. And we're going nowhere but up. 😉
I hope all of you who have a Larry story - and I know there are a LOT of you- will come make some new ones with us.
Welcome to the family, Larry.
Having the opportunity to work beside one of my greatest mentors again, only this time under my roof, is one of those full-circle moments I don't think I'll ever be able to properly put into words. "WWLD!"
