Did you know we have large, leatherback sea turtles swimming right here in Avila Beach? This prehistoric giant turtle is California’s official state marine reptile, and is also the largest sea turtle in the world.

A life-size bronze sea turtle is coming to Avila Beach Park! This is a tribute to the ancient mariners who cross the entire Pacific to feed off our coast. The sculpture will stand in Avila Beach Park at 50 San Juan Street, beside the Central Coast Aquarium and a short walk from the promenade and the pier. Please attend our Ribbon-Cutting on Thursday, October 15, at 5:00 p.m!
