Top Winter Hikes Near Bakersville

Roan Mountain (Carvers Gap Access): The premier winter destination; expect snow, rime ice, and panoramic views.

Round Bald/Jane Bald: An easier, shorter out-and-back (1.5 miles RT to Round Bald) for great views.

Grassy Ridge Bald: Continue past Jane Bald for more expansive views.

Roan High K**b: A climb through fir forests to a shelter and higher views.

Appalachian Trail (AT) Sections: From Carvers Gap, hike further south towards Yellow Mountain Gap for longer, more challenging hikes.

Cloudland Trail: A family-friendly option with great views from Roan Bluff, near Bakersville.

Pisgah National Forest (Near Asheville):

Looking Glass Rock: Offers stunning waterfall views in winter when trees are bare.

Daniel Ridge Falls: A 4-mile loop near Looking Glass Rock.
