Malta Veterans Appreciation Program (MVAP) exists to provide charitable support services to veterans. They help veterans live in a safe, comfortable environment where they are not hindered but are able to thrive and lead full, meaningful lives.

MVAP holds its annual Memorial Brick Ceremony on the first Sunday in June at the David T. Wallingford Veterans Memorial Park, located at the Malta Town Hall. . The ceremony took place on Sunday, June 7, and over 100 new commemorative bricks were dedicated. The bricks are engraved with the names of those who served our country.

The dedication features guest speakers (including local state senators and assembly representatives), a flag line and color guard, and live musical performances. The Clifton Park Elks are proud to participate is this very meaningfu event led by our member and MVAP President Renee Farley.

On Saturday, June 6, the Clifton Park Elks hosted their Annual Soccer Shoot Contest at the Clifton Common. Soccer is one of the fastest growing youth activities in the country. Just wait until the FIFA World Cup starts next week to see how popular soccer has become in the US. The Elks Soccer Shoot Program is intended to harness this enthusiasm and support the many youth players learning the sport. This Soccer Shoot Program is the kind of sporting event that helps keep our youth focused and encourages their skills development.

The Elks Soccer Shoot contest tests different level skills at different ages. From u-8 to U-14, there is a contest geared to the skills and abilities of that age group. Winners at each age-group are eligible to advance to the next level of competition - Local Lodge, District, State, and Region. Winners at both the State and Region levels will have their scores sent to the national level to determine a National Champion in each of the age and gender groups.
