Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t seal this dreamy summer in a time capsule. Maple tips are already showing their orange edges.

Next weekend (Sept 11-13) is one of Alkov’s last open autumn weekends, and it’s a great one. Backyard Pottery Sale will be goin’ on, Interstate State Park will be lovely, and an amazing new restaurant, Fiddlehead Kitchen just opened in beautiful, downtown, St. Croix Falls. A moment of appreciation for our little backyard lake.
Bridget lake, also known as Mud lake, is about 100 acres.

You might see painted turtles playing on algae jungle gyms (a friend’s words 🐢), ospreys diving for their breakfast, hawks and eagles perched on the reedy shoreline on towering white pines.

We hear it’s great fishing too. Rumor is, you can find Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike.

At only 7 feet deep, this lake isn’t great for swimming, but grab a kayak (we have two!) and your binoculars, and you’re in for a fantastic afternoon. Or, just grab a coffee and watch the glittering sunset from the back porch.

Things are getting green in the St. Croix Valley, if you know where to look. It’s hard to believe things will be this green so soon.

Summer stays at this dreamy lakeside spot are open for booking, but they usually fill fast. Just a few weekends left in June and July!
