This image is from years past and always reminds me of the line in the Walrus and the Carpenter "if seven maids with seven mops swept for half a year, do you suppose, the walrus asked, that they could get it clear? "

A long period swell will impact our waters starting Sunday May 24th through Tuesday May 26th. Sneaker waves can surprise beachgoers, running up on the beach significantly farther than other waves. They can also lift or roll large, heavy logs which can lead to serious injury or death.

Susan calls this stuff "creepy cool," and it is. Life in a tide pool is very different than life on dry land. Come explore it with Shoreline Education for Awareness, Inc. on a tide pool walk. They are scheduled for the 19th (8:30 AM) and 20th (9 AM) at Coquille Point.

We will be among the volunteers from Shoreline Education for Awareness, Inc. that will be at Face Rock Wayside this coming weekend (May 16 & 17 from 9 to 11). Among the many birds we will be viewing are lots of Common Murre. Normally, we don't see them walking around the base of the rocks like this one. Rather, they are the ones that are massing on the top of the rocks by the thousands. Come join us for a viewing.

Circles in the Sand is about to have another draw. Next week there will be draws on the mornings of the 18th, 19th and 20th. It's time for a trip to the beach.
It's hard to believe but years ago Denny did the entire draw by himself. The labyrinth was smaller, more intimate.

This one goes back several years to when we had Tufted Puffin on Elephant Rock. Sadly, they are no longer there. However, we do have Tufted Puffin on Face Rock and you can see them with a spotting scope provided by Shoreline Education for Awareness, Inc. this coming Saturday and Sunday at Face Rock Wayside. We have some amazingly good low tides coming on the 16th through the 20th of May. A fabulous time to get out for some tide pooling. On the 19th and 20th you can even join a tide pool walk with Shoreline Education for Awareness, Inc.
