Cozy Hills and Skyridge Trails are sending love to the Connecticut camping community this week, as the campground industry lost one of the truly good ones with the passing of Connecticut local Pete Brown, one of the former owners of Lone Oak.

Pete was the kind of person who made a lasting impression. When we first purchased Cozy Hills years ago, Pete and his wife came to visit us. We were brand new to the industry and trying to pull together our very first haunted trail. When Pete realized we didn’t have any props, he immediately offered to loan us anything we needed from his own campground. That was Pete.

Years later, when we told him, with a bit of nervousness, that we were building another campground just 30 minutes from his own, his reaction was not competitive or concern - it was excitement for us. In true Pete style, he immediately asked how he could help!

Pete was also an incredible supporter of the campground industry as a whole. He was always willing to step up - whether it was serving on committees and boards, supporting fellow campground owners, or testifying on important issues affecting our industry.

He represented the very best parts of camping. One in a million. Our thoughts are with Pete’s family, friends, staff, his campers, and everyone whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.
