One of the most eerie places in Kentucky…the Jailer’s Inn in Bardstown, KY lets you spend the night inside one of the oldest jails in the state! Once the Old Nelson County Jail, it held prisoners from 1797 to 1987, making it the longest-operating jail in the KY. The limestone “Old Jail,” built in 1819, still features 30-inch-thick walls and an upstairs dungeon. The back jail, added in 1874, remains surrounded by a stone wall.
