Bardstown has earned another new national honor, being ranked the #1 Most Welcoming Small Town in America for 2026.

According to a new study by VacationRenter, Bardstown topped a nationwide list of small towns recognized for their hospitality and inviting atmosphere. The study analyzed thousands of communities across the country, evaluating factors that help make visitors feel welcome.

Bardstown received an impressive score of 98.4, securing the top ranking and earning the title “The Spirit of the South.”
Often known as the Bourbon Capital of the World, Bardstown’s historic charm, local attractions, and reputation for Southern hospitality helped the Nelson County community stand out among destinations nationwide.

Crestpoint Companies Breaks Ground on New Hampton Inn & Suites in Bardstown, Kentucky

BARDSTOWN, KY — July 11, 2025 — Crestpoint Companies is proud to announce the official groundbreaking of its newest development — the Hampton Inn & Suites Bardstown — bringing the globally recognized Hilton brand back to Bardstown, Kentucky. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at noon on July 11th at 160 Lincoln Way, directly behind the Fairfield Inn & Suites Bardstown. The event is open to the public and will be followed by a reception at the Fairfield Inn & Suites.

Crestpoint first entered the Bardstown market in 2020 with the opening of the Fairfield Inn & Suites, which has since welcomed more than 115,000 guests to the area. “Having the opportunity to open a second property in Bardstown and continue delivering exceptional hospitality to our guests is incredibly exciting," said Tim Alsip, Vice President of Operations at Crestpoint. "I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this team and this community.”

Following the success of its Fairfield Inn & Suites property, Crestpoint acquired the rights to the Hampton Inn & Suites brand in January 2022, ensuring the continued presence of the Hampton name in Bardstown — known worldwide as the Bourbon Capital. "The Hampton Inn & Suites Bardstown will showcase the brand’s contemporary design and warm, inviting atmosphere," said Alsip. "We are pleased to bring the Hampton Inn & Suites experience back to this thriving market.”

Scheduled to open in Summer 2026, the 97-room Hampton Inn & Suites Bardstown will feature Hilton’s latest smart and inventive public spaces, guest room designs, and bright, welcoming décor. The hotel will operate as a Hilton franchise, developed by Crestpoint of Mason, Ohio.

“Delivering both function and comfort, the hotel’s modern design will offer guests a positive, productive travel experience backed by Hilton’s trusted service and exceptional value,” added Kal Patel, CEO of Crestpoint. “We look forward to celebrating this groundbreaking on July 11th and to welcoming guests when we open our doors next year.”
