💡 The Aurora Tips!

❄️🏔️ Did You Know It Can Be 75° in Bartlett and Snowing on Mount Washington at the Same Time?

One of the things that makes the White Mountains so unique is how dramatically conditions can change with elevation.

If you're planning to hike this weekend, be aware that while Bartlett and North Conway may feel like summer, conditions above 4,000 feet in the Presidential Range can be completely different.

According to the National Weather Service, higher elevations may experience:

❄️ Wet Snow
🌬️ Single-Digit Wind Chills
🌨️ Rain / Snow Mix
🥾 Slippery Trail Conditions

Mountain weather can change quickly, especially above treeline, where temperatures and wind conditions are often far more severe than in the valleys below.

Before You Head Out:

✅ Bring extra layers
✅ Pack waterproof gear
✅ Wear proper hiking footwear
✅ Check the latest forecast before departing

The White Mountains offer some of the most beautiful hiking in New England, but a little preparation can go a long way toward a safe and enjoyable adventure.

One of the things that makes The Aurora so special is that it has truly been restored with intention. ✨

Many people don’t know that one of the owners of The Aurora, Janine Whittaker (Janine Leigh) , is not only a designer and real estate investor, but also a feng shui consultant who has spent years studying how energy impacts the way people feel within a space. Janine was even previously featured on Chronicle for her work in feng shui and energetic space transformation.

This week, ahead of The Aurora’s first wedding, Janine performed a remote space clearing for the property — a feng shui practice intended to energetically cleanse old patterns, reset intentions, and help support beautiful new memories within a space.

For The Aurora, this process feels especially meaningful.

Before this property became what it is today, it had fallen into severe disrepair under previous ownership. There was a period when the property became known locally for drugs, partying, and constant police activity. We were once told the property accounted for nearly 30% of the local police calls in the area.

When our team purchased the property, we saw something different beneath all of that — we saw potential, beauty, healing, and a place that could once again become a positive part of the community.

Since then, every renovation, every design decision, every gathering, and every guest experience has been approached with the intention of restoring not just the buildings, but the energy of the land itself.

While we still have many dreams and improvements ahead for The Aurora, moments like this remind us how far this property has already come. From chaos to calm. From neglected to celebrated. From surviving to shining again. 🤍
