The oldest lived in home in Acadia Parish built in 1854 by Jacob Oscar Lantz originally a native of Prussia. The pre Civil War home was built from hewed lumber held together by pegs and square nails. This house was owned by the the Lantz's until 1951 the Pousson-Hayes family purchased it. They restored the old house while keeping many of its original features. They elevated the home six feet abov
e ground just like many old plantation homes and have found numerous items throughout the years that help to keep this old houses charm. They have discovered antique hand blown wine bottles, crude hand made farm tools and even a corroded and rusted handgun. Lantz passed on he was buried in a about 2 miles off the grounds in a cemetery dedicated especially to him, which is where we get the name The Lantz Guest House. The new owners kept with the old world charm with their now bed and breakfast, guest can enjoy all aspects of this beautiful place from the old time wash house, the cottage filled with antique southern style, cook over an outdoor fire pit, sit on the gazebo and enjoy the scenery or stroll through the grounds and explore all the old time items. You can also tour out towards the cemetery and who knows what you will see, may even spot a few wild hogs or deer.
