A warm welcome to downtown Bastrop’s newest addition, Casa Pan Bakery .bakery. With her inspired blend of Mexican and French traditions, owner Judith Equihua creates baked goods that delight all the senses.

On our first visit, we sampled a crunchy co**ha, buttery croissants, and a beautifully flaky Napoleon. We returned two days later for a capirotada and a sourdough loaf that melted in our mouths.

Next door, Judith’s CAFF Coffee & Kitchen serves breakfast and lunch and shares a comfortable, shaded patio—an inviting spot to slow down and savor life’s simple pleasures.

There were plenty of exciting discoveries on our trip to Bastrop! 🚴‍♂️
's Bikes just opened at Fisherman’s Park along the Colorado River — only a few blocks from our family home and Airbnb, Yerba at Bastrop

Here’s a group photo of Fred Sweets, Bill O'Leary, Garza, and me on the river, plus another of Fred talking bikes with Jason — Mike’s son and, like Fred, a true cycling aficionado. We rode along the river and through Bastrop’s historic district before heading to the new Italian spot, , where owner Marco knocked it out of the park with his Cacio e Pepe and other delicious dishes. 🍝 Here’s enjoying the theatrics!

On our morning walk downtown, we stumbled upon , where Ryan Walker and Dakota Dye () treated us to incredible Greek coffee and baklava. ☕️🇬🇷

And as always, the best meal came from home — Xavier’s legendary homemade Huevos Rancheros, cooked in our family kitchen and tempting even the hens to wander in for breakfast. 🐔🍳

Yerba at Bastrop was part of the 2022 Holiday Homes Tour. The Museum and Visitor Center of Bastrop County Historical Society's staff, docents, and volunteers did a fabulous helping us and other homeowners explore the past and present of this unique Texas town and allow visitors a chance to experience some of that history! In the first photo Jean Lang (left) and Eliza Perkins perform Christmas carols at our family home, then a view from inside our home. Tony shows visitors Yerba's keyhole garden and our chickens hope for a snack.

Our neighbor's cat (Hazel) keeps sneaking into the Yerba at Bastrop house and then hangs out in our bedroom. Here, She is looking out on Church Street, and if you walk south on it, one block and then turn right and walk two blocks on Farm St, you'll reach the Colorado River ,where you can Kayak, picnic or just take a nice long walk.
