Long before sailboats filled the harbor, this shoreline was known as Sawdust Flats, where lumber barons milled millions of feet of timber that helped shape Bayfield's early history.
That history is what inspired the name The Mill House.

The climb is worth it.
Mountain bikers 🚵 know exactly what we're talking about.
Just two miles south of Seagull Bay, Mt. Ashwabay offers more than 20 miles of singletrack for riders of all skill levels. One of the highlights is the sweeping view of Lake Superior, the Apostle Islands, and the Madeline Island Ferry crossing the bay.
Not a bad place to catch your breath.
