Over the years, Seagull Bay has *grown* a little.
What started as one lakeside motel has slowly expanded into a small collection of places to stay in Bayfield, Wisconsin. And while we love that growth, it’s also created a little confusion for guests trying to figure out which room and which property they’re booking.
So we decided it was time for a refresh.
Our website now has a new look 🤩 designed to make planning your stay easier. Each property now has its own page, its own description, and even a video so you can get a feel for the place before you arrive.
It’s a small change that we hope makes choosing your Bayfield stay a whole lot simpler.

Ok, folks, we’ve been dropping a few clues about the work happening behind the scenes, and we’re finally ready to share the full story.
Behind the scenes at Seagull Bay we’ve been working on a few updates to make planning your Bayfield, Wisconsin getaway a little easier.

We are over the moon that our small but mighty Bay Area Swim Team is sending not one but two boys to state for the first time is 15+ years! Way to go Ridge, Sam, Coach Taylor and all of the BAST SWIM TEAM on an incredible season! Watch out Wisconsin our team is just getting started! The boys will compete this weekend in Verona, Wisconsin.

If you’ve ever wanted to walk across frozen Lake Superior and stand beneath towering curtains of ice, this is your moment.
Access like this doesn’t happen often. In fact, since 2000, the caves have only been safely accessible a handful of times. When the wind, cold, and lake finally align 🧊, it feels almost unreal.
But visiting the Ice Caves takes planning 📋, From online tickets and shuttle logistics to what to wear for the 2–6 mile trek across the ice.

The Ice Caves are OPEN and we have updated our hours. Please follow the guidelines set up by the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, and be safe out there!

Ice Caves Update: OPEN for visitation on 2-16-2026.

Plan for a 2+ mile round-trip hike on lake ice. There is no shelter or water anywhere on the route, and porta-potties are available only at the start of the hike. Wear warm, waterproof boots with traction devices, dress in layers, and bring water and snacks. No on-site parking is available at Meyers Beach—plan to shuttle from off-site locations to the trailhead. Monitor https://go.nps.gov/IceCaves and Facebook for updates and trip planning information.
