It's official...the New Jersey Chef of the Year finalists have been announced.

New Jersey is home to some of the most talented and innovative chefs in the country, and now it’s your turn to help recognize the best of the best!

Starting Monday, October 12 at 10:00 am, public voting officially opens. This is your chance to celebrate the culinary talent, creativity, and passion that make New Jersey’s restaurant industry so special.

The winner will be announced at the 41st NJRHA Awards show on Thursday, November 5.

The storm has passed. Now it's our turn to show up for LBI. 🌊💙

This weekend's nor'easter hit our island hard, and many local shops, restaurants and small businesses had to close for the whole weekend, right when they were counting on fall traffic to carry them into the off-season.

These businesses sponsor our youth teams, donate to our fundraisers, and keep the island running all year. Now we can show up for them, whether you're here on LBI or cheering us on from afar.

As this weekend comes to an end, I think we can all agree this nor’easter turned into a whole lot more than any of us expected.

I’ve heard, “Well, what do you expect? You live on a barrier island,” more times than I can count.

And yes, we know. But loving LBI is a little like childbirth. You go through it, swear you’ll never forget it, and somehow the love makes you forget just enough to do it all over again.

Because we love this place.

I share these videos and updates because I know how many of you aren’t here to see what’s happening firsthand. Your house, your street, your little piece of this island. You just want a glimpse. You want to know everything is okay, even when you can’t be here.

And whether it’s a little beach cottage or a million-dollar waterfront home, it doesn’t matter. It’s your home. It’s where memories are made, where family gathers, and where so much of life happens.

This weekend brought out a lot in people. Some beautiful, some disappointing. But I’d rather focus on the people who checked on neighbors, shared updates, sent videos, offered help, and showed up when it mattered.

To everyone who trusted LBI Source and the other LBI pages to help keep you connected, thank you. We all do it for the same reason: love of this island.

And when the water recedes, the roads reopen, and our local businesses are ready to welcome everyone back, please show up for them. Grab a coffee, go out for dinner, walk the shops, buy something you probably don’t need. They weathered this storm too, and many lost an entire weekend of business.

Supporting this island means supporting the businesses and the people who make it what it is.

The water will recede. The roads will reopen. Things will get cleaned up, and eventually, this weekend will become another story we tell.

But the love people have for this place? That’s what keeps us coming back.

For some, it’s just a barrier island.

For the rest of us, it’s so much more.

ROUTE 72 CAUSEWAY UPDATE

The Route 72 Causeway Bridge is currently OPEN in both directions, and access to and from Long Beach Island is available at this time.

Conditions will continue to be monitored as we approach tonight’s high tide. Should flooding conditions require the bridge to be closed again, we will provide an update as soon as possible.

Please continue to use caution when traveling, avoid flooded roadways, and obey all posted barricades and traffic-control devices.
