If you're visiting BEAUFORT and looking for some books to read on our luxury balcony among the tree tops over Market St., In Habersham rest and relax and try out one of these 4 small town bookstores!!
𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳. ❤️📚
And if you’re visiting us at Cashmere, we hope you’ll save a little time to get to know our bookish neighbors, too.
One of the joys of independent bookstores is that each reflects the people behind it. Their interests, their favorite stories, and the unexpected things they choose to make room for on their shelves. You can visit several in an afternoon and come away with something entirely different from each one.
We’re lucky to have these two treasures right here in Downtown Beaufort:
📚 𝐌𝐜𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬𝐡 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞, at 917 Bay Street, is a longtime downtown favorite with a deep sense of place. G. Wilson McIntosh’s collection is rich in Lowcountry history, Southern writers, and old and rare books. From signed Pat Conroy works to vintage mysteries and out-of-print finds, there’s plenty to tempt curious readers and collectors alike.
And those outdoor book racks and their honor box? There’s something lovely about being trusted to choose a book and leave your payment, even when the shop itself is closed. ❤️
📚 NeverMore Books at 910 Port Republic Street, brings a little Poe-inspired magic to downtown. Owned by husband-and-wife team David and Lorrie Anderson, this literary hideaway is filled with gothic touches, vintage curiosities, and playful nods to The Raven.
New and gently loved books share space with signed first editions, art and photography books, children’s stories, vinyl jazz records, and eclectic finds. It’s a place with a personality all its own, well worth taking your time to explore. 🖤📚
And be sure to get to know Pat Conroy Literary Center (601 Bladen St), where exhibits, author events, and writing programs celebrate Conroy’s legacy and carry forward his love for readers, writers, and the stories that connect us.
Long before Cashmere opened its doors, these places were helping make Beaufort special for book lovers. We’re grateful to be adding our own little chapter to that story.
Thank you for the kindness and support you’ve shown us along the way. We’re so honored to be part of Beaufort’s literary community.❤️
So make a bookish day of it. Visit their shops. Follow their pages. Explore the Center’s upcoming events. Stop for lunch, wander downtown, and leave a little room in your bag for something unexpected.
Every visit, every recommendation to a friend, and every book brought home helps keep Beaufort’s literary heart beating. ❤️
