Recovery doesn't happen because of one person. It happens because an entire community comes together.

Today, we're launching our Thank You Thursday series recognizing the people and organizations helping Eagle Point and Beaver County recover in the aftermath of the Cottonwood Fire and the flooding that followed.

Our first thank you goes to Beaver County Commissioners Wade Hollingshead, Tammy Pearson and Brandon Yardley.

It's impossible to capture everything they've done over the past several weeks, but their leadership has been instrumental to our community's recovery. They have worked tirelessly to help secure disaster declarations and funding opportunities, coordinate with local, state and federal partners, restore critical infrastructure, support cleanup efforts, improve access to the mountain, and move recovery efforts forward.

Much of this work has happened behind the scenes, but its impact has been felt throughout Beaver County. Through countless meetings, phone calls and long days, they have remained committed to helping our community recover and rebuild.

To Commissioners Wade Hollingshead, Tammy Pearson and Brandon Yardley, thank you for your leadership, your partnership and your unwavering commitment to Beaver County. We are incredibly grateful.

Free concerts to thank Beaver county community and honor recovery!

Presented by Eagle Point Resort and Beaver County

In the wake of one of the most challenging chapters in Beaver County's history, community members, local leaders, and partners will come together for a special day of music, gratitude and unity, celebrating the resilience of the people of Beaver County while recognizing the extraordinary efforts that continue to drive recovery forward.

Presented by Eagle Point Resort and Beaver County, the two free community concerts will feature Chloë Agnew, the original voice of Celtic Woman, and rising country artist Katie Mathews.

📅 Saturday, Sept. 19
📍 Beaver High School Auditorium
🕓 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
🚪 Doors open one hour before each show
🎟️ Admission is free and open to the public

Guests are encouraged to arrive early due to limited capacity.
The concerts will serve as a community-wide thank you to firefighters, first responders, emergency personnel, volunteers, local businesses and residents whose dedication has helped Beaver County navigate an unprecedented recovery.
More than concerts, the performances are intended as a gathering for neighbors, friends, and supporters to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate the strength that has carried the community forward. The event will highlight the spirit of service, generosity, and perseverance that emerged throughout the response and recovery efforts.

The concerts come as Beaver County continues to recover from the devastating Cottonwood Fire, which burned more than 97,000 acres and impacted homes, businesses, recreation areas, and critical infrastructure throughout the region. The Cottonwood Fire caused widespread devastation throughout the Eagle Point community, destroying homes, condominiums, and key resort infrastructure.

The challenges did not end when the fire was contained. Subsequent flooding and erosion affected communities throughout Beaver County, damaging property, impacting transportation corridors, creating additional hardships for residents, and further complicating recovery efforts for homeowners, local officials, and emergency response teams.
While rebuilding will continue for years to come, moments like this remind us of what makes this community special: neighbors helping neighbors, resilience in the face of adversity, and a shared commitment to move forward together.

HEROES OF COTTONWOOD

Beaver County Sheriff's Office & Public Safety Partners

When the Cottonwood Fire threatened Eagle Point Resort and surrounding communities, a coordinated effort involving local, state, and federal responders helped ensure residents, homeowners, guests, and visitors could safely evacuate the area.

Working under the leadership of Sheriff Cody Black, the Beaver County Sheriff's Office, including patrol deputies, dispatchers, Search and Rescue, Emergency Management, and civilian staff, coordinated closely with firefighters, law enforcement agencies, public safety partners, and volunteers throughout the incident.

One of the most important moments during the fire was the evacuation effort. Deputies, firefighters, Search and Rescue members, law enforcement officers, and volunteers went door-to-door helping people leave the area safely as conditions rapidly changed. Their coordinated efforts helped ensure a timely evacuation and played a critical role in protecting lives during the Cottonwood Fire.

As we continue our recovery journey, we're taking time to recognize the individuals and organizations whose dedication made a difference during one of the most challenging moments in our community's history.

Today, we thank the Beaver County Sheriff's Office, Search and Rescue, Emergency Management, Dispatch, and the many local, state, and federal partners who helped conduct a successful evacuation operation during the Cottonwood Fire.

Heroes of Cottonwood is a new series honoring the first responders and partners who helped our community during the fire and continue to support recovery efforts today.

A difficult but necessary decision.

After extensive evaluation of the damage caused by the Cottonwood Fire, Eagle Point Resort has made the difficult decision not to operate for the 2026-27 winter season.

The fire impacted approximately 300 acres of ski terrain, damaged four chairlifts, destroyed Canyonside Lodge, and forever changed parts of our mountain community. While we are heartbroken to miss this season, our focus remains on supporting the 145 families who lost homes and condominiums at Eagle Point, helping the greater Beaver County community recover, and advancing the restoration and recovery efforts that lie ahead.

Season passholders will have three options:
✅ Receive a full refund
✅ Transfer your pass to the 2027-28 season
✅ Donate some or all of your pass purchase to BeaverTUF, supporting recovery efforts throughout Beaver County

Passholders will receive a direct email in the coming days outlining these options, important deadlines, and next steps.

While this chapter is difficult, our commitment to Eagle Point, Beaver County, and the people who make this mountain special remains unchanged.

The Beaver Flood Relief Effort is organizing a community volunteer cleanup this Saturday, July 25, to help local homeowners affected by the flooding. If you’re available and able to help, please consider volunteering your time and lending a hand as our community works together to recover.

📅 Date: Saturday, July 25

⏰ Time: Check-in window between 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM (Project estimated 3 to 4 hours)

📍 Meeting / Check-In Location: Baseball Complex Parking Lot (826 E 600 N)

🧹 Scope of Work: Exterior property cleanup only (clearing tree debris, rocks, trash, and building large piles for heavy equipment haul-away at a later date). No volunteers will enter homes.

🧰 What to Bring & Wear:
Apparel: Muck/water boots, work gloves, durable clothing (you will get dirty!), and personal safety gear.
Tools Needed: Chainsaws, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows.
Small Equipment: Skid steers and Bobcats are welcomed!
Personal Supplies: Please bring your own water and snacks.

⚠️ Important Access & Safety Notes:
Walking Required: Vehicle access into the flood zone is limited. Be prepared to walk up to 0.5 miles to reach assigned properties.

Vehicle Parking: Vehicles may not be allowed directly at the work sites; please be prepared to carpool or walk in and out of the zone.

Safety First: Weather conditions can change quickly. Please remain flexible, follow safety protocols, and be respectful of Search & Rescue and Sheriff’s Office personnel if evacuation is required.

📍 How Arrival Works:
Send one representative from your group/team to the 600 N Baseball Complex parking lot to register your headcount, receive a property assignment map, and get routed to your team leader.

Road Update from Eagle Point Resort

Many of you may have seen news coverage of the devastating flooding that has impacted Beaver County in the aftermath of the Cottonwood Fire. As we continue to learn, the effects of a wildfire don’t end when the flames are extinguished.

One of the many impacts of the recent flooding has been damage to State Route 153, the primary access road to Eagle Point Resort. As a result, access to the resort through Beaver Canyon is currently closed indefinitely.

We are working closely with UDOT, Beaver County, and other agency partners to assess conditions and identify a path toward reopening the roadway. Restoring safe access is a critical step in supporting homeowners, damage assessments, cleanup efforts, and the broader recovery process.

We know this is difficult news for many families and community members impacted by both the fire and subsequent flooding, and we appreciate your patience and support as recovery continues.

We’ll share additional updates as more information becomes available.

Eagle Point Resort owner Shane Gadbaw today announced the launch of BeaverTUF, a new 501(c)(3) foundation dedicated to supporting recovery efforts following the Cottonwood Fire and investing in the long-term future of Beaver County.

In the months ahead, BeaverTUF will help address recovery and restoration needs that may not be covered by insurance, FEMA, or other assistance programs. Over time, the foundation will expand its mission to support youth programs, scholarships, education initiatives, and community partnerships throughout Beaver County.
