🇺🇸 Memorial Day 2026 🇺🇸

Today, VFW Beavercreek Memorial Post 8312 joins communities across America in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is not simply the start of summer—it is a day of remembrance. A day to reflect on the courage, selflessness, and devotion of those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Throughout this Memorial Day, our Post Honor Guard will participate in ceremonies across Beavercreek, paying tribute to our fallen veterans and ensuring their service is never forgotten. At our Post ceremony, we will also honor by name the comrades of Post 8312 whom we have lost during the past year, remembering their lives, their service, and their lasting impact on our Post family.

As we gather with family and friends today, let us pause to remember those who never came home and the families who carry their memory forward.

May we never forget their sacrifice.

“All gave some. Some gave all.”

If you plan to visit WPAFB throughout the week, be aware there will be an ongoing exercise at the base all week.

From the article:

“It is important NOT to call 911 if you see training.

Because this is a training exercise, individuals are reminded not to call 911 or other emergency telephone numbers if they observe exercise-related activities,” wrote officials. “Emergency response agencies and dispatch centers in surrounding communities have been notified of the event in advance to prevent confusion.”

Today is Armed Forces Day — a day set aside to recognize and honor the men and women currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Established in 1949, Armed Forces Day was created to bring together the separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and newly formed Air Force under one unified day of appreciation following the creation of the Department of Defense.

While Memorial Day honors those who gave their lives in service, and Veterans Day recognizes those who previously served, Armed Forces Day is specifically dedicated to those wearing the uniform today — standing watch around the world, defending our nation, and answering the call to serve.

At VFW Post 8312, we proudly salute all currently serving members of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard/Reserve components.

To all who continue to serve: thank you for your commitment, sacrifice, and dedication to this country.
