First room to be painted is the Rose Room. When I was a kid, we would visit our cousins and stay in their old historic farmhouse. And one of the bedrooms had wallpaper with roses on it. And even after it was painted, it was still called the rose room.
This room isn’t going to have wallpaper, but it will have a touch of pink. Which sounds scary, 😱 but won’t be. 😋

The other day, I met with the head of the Trimble County Historical Society. We attempted to locate a book in which a member has compiled the history of The Inn (aka the Peak House). We haven’t found it yet. But we did dig into lots of records about the families that lived here.

And I did get to read a short 2 page history of the house, which ended with:

“The past residents, as well as the present, would all agree that the house is silent, solid, and strong.”

Pulling up carpet in the back bedrooms. I was crossing my fingers for some floors... and we found some! 🥳 Now I hope they are salvageable. 🤞🏼So pumped.

What is this? This is how trees die. We took down a very large tree today in back of the Historic Bedford Inn, and attempted to save another. The ivy was choking the life out of this tree, and was at least 6” thick on the trunk!!
Regular tree maintenance is so important. We couldn’t disentangle all the ivy on this one, but did cut the vine at the base. Now we wait and hope this tree pulls through! 🤞🏼
