"Sharp Top" is written by a local author, Carolyn Tyree Feagans. It is one of our staff and guests favorite. The book is historical fiction that takes place right here at the Peaks.

"Finding Winnie" is the true story of Winnie the Pooh. Another favorite of our staff and guests.

So grab your favorite book or a new one, find a cozy spot, and make a little time for reading today. ❤️

October skies will be putting on a show! 🌠

🐉 Draconid Meteor Shower — peaks the night of October 8–9. It’s a smaller shower, but this year the moon will barely be visible, so the sky will be extra dark for spotting those slow, graceful streaks.

🏹 Orionid Meteor Shower — peaks the night of October 21–22, with up to 20-25 meteors an hour. These come from debris left behind by Halley’s Comet — so when you make a wish, you’re wishing on a piece of one of the most famous comets in history.

🦌 Fawn Fun Facts! 🦌

Ever wonder why fawns are born with those cute white spots? Turns out it’s not just for looks — it’s genius survival design straight from nature.

✨ Each fawn has 300-400 spots that mimic dappled sunlight filtering through the forest floor, helping them blend right in with the leaves and shadows.

✨ The spots aren’t scattered totally at random — two lateral lines of spots run from ear to tail down each side of the body, with the rest scattered across the back and flanks.

✨ Fawns are nearly scent-free for their first few weeks, so predators have a hard time sniffing them out while they lay still and hidden.

✨ Those spots aren’t just camouflage — they actually fade away by the time a fawn is about 3-4 months old, once it’s grown enough to outrun danger instead of hiding from it.
