Ooooohhhhh….. we love to eat here. Their fried chicken is terrific for dinner, but their breakfast is amazing too. 

In Boone, North Carolina you can stop by the Dan’l Boone Inn for some of the tastiest Southern comfort food in the High Country. This longtime favorite has been serving family-style meals since 1959, with big bowls and platters brought to the table for everyone to share. Dinner comes with three meats, five vegetables, warm biscuits, preserves, dessert, and a drink, so you definitely won’t leave hungry. During summer, the meal starts with salad, while colder months bring a bowl of soup first. On Saturdays and Sundays, the inn also serves a full family-style breakfast with favorites like eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, grits, biscuits, gravy, stewed apples, and glazed cinnamon biscuits. The building has quite a story of its own. It was once the home and office of Dr. R.K. Bingham, later became Boone’s first hospital, and eventually housed students from Appalachian State Teachers College. Today, it’s considered Boone’s oldest restaurant and has earned reader honors from both Southern Living and Our State for its classic country cooking.
