Journey To Africa Safari

Journey To Africa Safari Experienced Safari designer planning meaningful life-changing experiences to Eastern + Southern Africa. Let us show you the magic of Africa. ❤️ Let's chat.

Nothing gives me goosebumps quite like sharing the magic of Africa with others. Through Journey to Africa Safaris, I do exactly that. Hi, I am Mefi and I create life-changing Safaris to my home country of Tanzania and other amazing Eastern and Southern African countries. Majority of the Safaris I plan, I am taking you to places I have been to myself and with partners I trust. During our Safari pla

nning stage, our aim is for you to say, 'that was easy'! Our goal is to cut the overwhelm, make the Safari planning as easy for you as possible, and take you to the right places at the right time, with the right people on the ground. We can't wait to hear your stories on your 'Journey to Africa'.

The people that make your Safari ✨

The Middleton's just returned from their Safari to Kenya and Tanzania and it was such a special one. We sat down with them to hear all their stories and it kept coming back to the people. The guides who become like family, the connections made with the teams at camp, the conversations and laughter shared day after day and the way Tanzanians and Kenyans look after children as if they are their own. This was the trip of a lifetime for them all - Mike & Mzia [Bibi & Babu as they affectionately became known to all the teams], their kids and grandkids. Goosebumps.

This Safari was an absolute dream to plan - the Middletons were curious, open-minded and ready for adventure, and when you head on Safari with this mindset, you'll leave with memories that will last a lifetime and a deeper connection to the place.

We are writing a full blog on this Safari as the stories are incredible, we can't wait to share more 🐘

Mark and Leigh sat down with us after their trip to share their Safari highlights, and we could listen to this all day 🦁

From lions acting like house cats to mighty river crossings and the dramatic golden light settling over the plains at sunset. They came home with memories that are still sinking in. As Leigh put it: "How does this even happen?"

Their time at Serian's in the Serengeti was the cherry on top of Mark & Leigh's big mountain adventure and it delivered beyond what they could imagine. Asante to the team at Serian's Lamai for always looking after our guests so well. We can't wait to share more about their climbs too and everything that went into preparations.

Asante sana, Mark and Leigh, for letting us be part of your journey. ✨

Let's Talk Binoculars 🐘

A Safari without binoculars is like running without shoes - you can do it, but they certainly help! Here's our take on why you should invest, or borrow a pair for your Safari! Some lodges have a spare pair in the vehicles, but this is not guaranteed.

Our tried and tested favorites are linked in our bio if you're looking to grab a pair for your Safari.

Let us know if you have any questions on what to take, or what to leave behind. We love Safari myth busting!

Asante sana,
Mefi & Georgie

Happy World Elephant Day! 🐘

Slide 1: Caretakers at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in Kenya bottle-feeding babies like it's just another Wednesday. It is not. We appreciate you.

Slide 2: This guy in Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia rolled right up to our vehicle like he just had to come say hello.

Slide 3: Me, Mefi, trying to hold it together.

None of this happens without the rangers on the ground every day, our favorite lodges and ground partners backing conservation, and the organizations that show up when elephants and communities collide. Asante sana to all of you — truly.

We love our elephants!

World Lion Day 🦁

A moment for these iconic big cats of the Savannah. Always a favorite for our Journey to Africa guests, for their goofy, fierce, and often hilarious behavior. As Mark who recently returned from the Serengeti put it, up close, you realize they are just big house cats full of character, family dynamics, and silliness.

Asante sana to all those who work to protect and keep the icons of the bush thriving. Lion populations have plummeted by around 75% in the past 50 years, driven largely by habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict. There are those working hard to recover populations and fight for these iconic big cats. Our ground partners at Nomad Tanzania, working with KopeLion in Northern Tanzania, and our partners at Honeyguide Foundation, are among the projects we support. Hongera sana.

Tunashukuru. We are grateful.

Asante sana,
Mefi & Georgie

What Teenagers Really Think About Safari...

This month on the blog, we handed the mic to the teenagers who have been on Safari with us to hear their thoughts and honest opinions- What was it like? What surprised them most? What moment will stay with them most? We also heard from teens who haven't been yet to see what the expectation vs reality is!

Here's the full blog: https://f.mtr.cool/nnfzlysjht

If you have teens and you're curious about what a Safari might teach them, how it will make them feel then this is a must read!

Asante sana,
Mefi & Georgie

When four families go on Safari together, this is what comes home 💫

- Twelve cameras full of incredible photos, like these from Nick. Wow.
- Memories that will echo through generations.
- A whole lot of awe, the emotion we don't feel enough of. A few weeks later, Sujit emailed us: "I'm still thinking about the vast wilderness and all the wildlife we saw."
- Kids and teens with broadened horizons. Between getting to know their guides and camp teams and a visit with the Maasai, they've all come home with a real appreciation for the people of Kenya and Tanzania.

We just wrapped a multi-family Safari to Kenya and Tanzania for the Bhavsar family: twelve people, four families, cousins, aunties and uncles all experiencing it together. And the feedback says it all:

"We had an amazing and adventurous time between the accommodations, guides and all the help getting to and fro across Kenya and Tanzania, and the multitude of wildlife we got to experience. Thank you for the efforts you put into a perfectly organized itinerary."

This is what we love most about planning big family Safaris: everyone is together for every meal, every sundowner, every early morning game drive, in awe of the same wild moments at the same time. It brings you closer to the world around you, and to eachother.

Dreaming of a multi-family trip of your own? Tell us what moves you, and we'll take care of the rest, start to finish.

The magic of taking your kids on Safari 💫

We sat down at the end of 2025 and chit chatted about our own Journeys, and it ended up being about 2 hours of Safari chatter - how we got here, Safari tips, fun stories, and everything in between. We are now slowly making our way through the footage and we wanted to bring these snippets to life. We are excited to share more.

Sometimes all you need is a beautiful morning and the perfect rock for a butt scratch...

Sometimes wildlife encounters are awe-inspiring, and sometimes they are just plain hilarious. This was one of those moments in Samburu. We love these moments in the wild. A reminder that even out there in the bush, it's not that serious 😂

Do you have any moments like this that you remember from your Safari?

"I want to see the Big 5"

Sometimes that's the starting point for a lot of people who want to head on Safari, and this is our answer. The Big 5 are incredible, and those moments will stay with you. But if we had one piece of advice for anyone going on their first Safari, it's this: go without expectations and be curious about everything.

The moment you start to notice the adaptations on specific antelope like the rare and elusive Klipspringer, or the bond between a mated pair of Jackals, you'll be absolutely delighted every moment on Safari, and you'll realize how diverse and fascinating the ecosystems really are. Our guides are the best, and they know so much about every little detail. A crocodile that has outlasted centuries. A bird with more color than you knew existed.

What's the most unexpected creature or moment you've fallen for on Safari? Tell us below.
