We welcome a variety of both religious and secular groups to our beautiful site throughout the year. Lutherwood is nestled in the evergreen trees along the shore of North Lake Samish just south of Bellingham, WA. Lutherwood runs programs for campers of all ages year round on our 105 acres of beautiful waterfront and forest land.

If you haven't seen it (or if you just want to gaze in awe at its stability, its accessibility, its sparkling clean-ness), join us for a few hours or the whole day* to help us dedicate it.

Our last summer group left yesterday, and today is the first day at Lutherwood since the end of May that camp is quiet. The 79th summer of Lutherwood was amazing, and we sing praises to God for another safe, fun, Christ-led year. We also give thanks for the land and lake, this beautiful space we steward that, in turn, helps steward our faith. As Jesus himself says, even if the voices are silent, the rocks and trees cry out the gospel. What's your favorite spot at Lutherwood?

It’s the last Wolf Shirt Wednesday of the summer! 🐺 🥲 We are grateful for all our summer staff who can stay after Lutherwood’s programming ends to help with our partner groups! Though the majority of tasks include washing lots of dishes and scrubbing lots of toilets, they always serve with a smile, and they help keep the summer spirit going for a little bit longer! Here, we’ve got Ashleigh with Emilee, Sarah Lynn, Eva, and Lachlan (thanks also to Bal and Ross, not pictured). You all rock!

Flashback Friday! It's hard to believe that TWO WEEKS have passed since we said goodbye to our Lutherwood campers, but the spirit of camp is always here! Enjoy some photos snapped of a campfire during Session 5 by volunteer Chris Kindem. :)

Our staff REALLY stepped up the skits and songs this year, and we couldn't be prouder! They were also aided by many intrepid LITs (Leaders-in-Training) who kept things fresh every week. 2026 was a summer of blessings, and we'll be basking in its glow all year long!

Though Lutherwood finished our programming last week, the summer isn't over. This week, Lutherwood is humbled to welcome Camp Qay'tl'et for its second year. Camp Q was born as a partnership with the Lummi Nation and Lummi Health to offer a camp for Lummi youth struggling with the grief of loss. Campers come to honor their ancestors and process grief through indigenous practices while also enjoying a week at camp. Tonight, the shores of Lake Samish echoed with the sound of Lummi songs, and the earth moved with Lummi dances and drums, as campers also shared their light bags to honor their loved ones.

Lutherwood is honored to be in this healing and holy work with the first peoples of this land . Hy'shqe (thank you!) to our Lummi neighbors and the Camp Q staff for all your amazing work!!!

The first application for our 2026 Summer Staff came through on November 1, 2025 (the first day applications were open!). For the past 10 months we have been praying for them, preparing for them, and, once on site, supporting them and savoring their presence! This past Saturday, we worshiped together one last time as a team and said goodbye.

We could not operate camp without this incredible community of young people who make great sacrifices to see Lutherwood through these wild and wonderful summer months, showing campers what it can look like to "Wear Love" both at camp and at home.

God chose each and every one of you to be a part of this team and help Lutherwood THRIVE in its 79th summer! We are grateful for a job well done, good and faithful servants.

While wildfire smoke causes some programming shifts, it can't dampen spirits around Lutherwood! Instead of our normal outdoor games, we're celebrating Lutherwood's Got Talent--and there are some amazing talents around here this week! Singers, actors, poets, orange peel eaters (that was an interesting choice of a staffer..?). Praise God for such talented campers and staff!

We're always making small tweaks (for the better!) to the way we do things here at Lutherwood, and one change this year was that our "Chapel" time each morning has moved to Campfire Circle! The more opportunities we have to show campers that church and a Christian community doesn't have to be confined inside a building, the wider their views on faith, worship, and leadership can expand! Since Lutherwood is a camp (obviously!), we can't think of a better place to worship than out in God's creation, and we're blessed to have this beautiful spot right on Lake Samish to do just that.
(And don't fret, the Chapel itself is still getting plenty of use: for Morning Watch, for rainy days, and a group of campers is doing Bible Encounter in the Chapel RIGHT NOW)!
