The OGS is saddened to announce the passing of former OGS volunteer Connie Smith of Mansfield, Ohio. Connie worked on numerous projects for the OGS Library; in particular, she created the database index to MSS 471 the 83rd Infantry Division WWI Returning Soldier Data Cards, which was made available to all OGS Members through the website. Join as the OGS Samuel D Isaly Library tomorrow for this program.

Join Jenna Kish, OGS Archivist, on Saturday, June 20, at 1pm at the OGS Samuel D Isaly Library for a presentation on Northeast Ohio’s interurban railways and streetcars, using reminiscences and photographs in the OGS Archives. The presentation will include readings from a streetcar conductor’s autobiography, as well as his personal photograph collection, and many additional pictures and post cards of streetcars and rail stations from the Ohio Photograph Collection. Particular focus on the Cleveland-Southwest & Columbus Railway (1907-1931), which connected Cleveland, Bucyrus, Ashland, Wooster, and many other smaller communities via electric railways. Saturday Showcase is a series of presentations by the OGS staff featuring particular resources of the Library and Archives. They are hosted in-person at the library in Bellville, Ohio.
