🚨 Policy Alert for STR Owners & Managers in Deschutes County 🚨

The Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on 5/21 to review and potentially adopt updates to the Transient Room Tax (TRT) code. They’ll consider a first and second reading, along with emergency adoption—which would put the changes into effect on September 1, 2025.

📅 Date: Wednesday, May 21, 2025
🕘 Time: 9:00 AM (during the County Commissioners meeting)
📍 Location: Barnes & Sawyer Rooms, Deschutes Services Building
1300 NW Wall Street, Bend, OR

🔑 Key proposed changes:
• New registration & renewal fees
• Clear penalties for non-compliance
• Updated definitions and advertising rules for STRs
• Alignment with Oregon’s state tax code
• Recreation fees would become taxable

⚠️ If emergency adoption is approved, the new rules could go into effect immediately on September 1.

COVRA will attend and share a full recap, but we strongly encourage owners and managers to stay engaged and provide feedback.
