The "ditch road" is a nice route into the Badlands Wilderness,
as well. The canal is nice to look at (off-limits to humans, though 🫤) & attracts wildlife.

Ps. You may ride bikes into the Badlands from our property -
But, you must stay on the "ditch road".

29,000 acres of pristine high desert is right out back of the Badlands Bunkhouse -
The Badlands Wilderness is a federally protected area that is perfect for off-leash hiking with your dog & horseback riding. No motorized vehicles or bikes allowed!

While I'm doing chores, I welcome guests coming over to ask about the horses...& I often show how they can give the boys their Special Treats. (Otherwise, they can't have any snacks for health reasons.😕)

The area surrounding the Honest Dog Ranch is rich in history to explore.
This baby grave marker is only a couple miles from the Bunkhouse, along the (modern) canal as it flows east into the .
A 2010 film, "Meek's Cutoff", starring actress Michelle Williams, was inspired by the tragedy, a sad story of a lost wagon train trying to make their way West through the uncharted high desert of Central Oregon
