Oft's Bed & Breakfast Oft's Bed & Breakfast is a Classic Queen Anne Home located in Bennington, a small rural town found a few miles northwest of Omaha, Nebraska.

If you like history, antiques and a relaxing setting; you'll love us. Oft's Bed and Breakfast is located in the Oft / Gordon Home which is a Classic Queen Anne home built in 1910. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places and filled with 4 generations of family heirlooms, art, antiques and history. We offer two upstairs bedrooms, both with private bathrooms and access to the balcony

. The Home is located in Bennington, a small rural town 25 miles from downtown Omaha. Situated in a small, quiet community and yet only 5 miles from suburb shopping, restaurants and entertainment. We are a great place to simply relax, have a get-a-way with friends or have a romantic get-a-way on your anniversaries or birthday. The Inn feature a period museum and historical displays depicting life a century ago and offers a self guided walking tour of historical business found in Bennington in 1900.

Jeanette didn't want us to sell the family home when she passed. We told her we were considering coming back and turning the home into a 'bed and breakfast'. She couldn't understand why we would want strangers staying with us.

Nearing retirement, Linda and I started to enjoy Bed and Breakfasts when we traveled. We found our stays relaxing and exposed us to the true nature of the community where we were staying. It was like staying with family.

At our going away party from Lakewood, Colorado, our friends gave us a copy of the 'Idiot's Guide to Operating a BnB'. Rule #1, you must like people, like people a lot. #2 it involves a lot of hard work and #3 you give up a great deal of your privacy. These were spot on!

We said a prayer asking the Lord for 5 more years, considering remodeling would take two years and giving us 3 years to be the best hosts we could be. That started our adventure.

2025 Marks 15 Years!

We started Oft's Bed & Breakfast in 2010 and during the past 15 years we've had the pleasure to host more than 8,000 guests in our home. People from all over the world and all walks of life. We've shared breakfast with nuclear engineers, poultry raisers, politicians, dairy farmers, musicians, singers, professors, athletes, solders, movie stars, farmers, lawyers, and even a news paper editor from Moscow.

Starting July, we will be phasing out of the Bed and Breakfast business. It's been an amazing journey. We thank all our guests and our community for its support.

The Oft-Gordon House got a new roof. We discovered the house still had its original shake shingles that hadn't seen the light of day for 114 years. It was a job taking off multiple layers and having to lay down plywood. I marveled at the crew's skill, attitude and teamwork. A hardworking group of men who enjoyed working together. A bit of poetic history. Today at Bennington Founder's Day, a tailgate party is being held in front of the old Oft's Hall. A local brewery is serving a "OFTLY" IPA. Great granddad Oft would certainly approve. It was SMOOTH. Happy 137 birthday Bennington.

What a week! We returned from Colorado right after the storm. A friend stopped by with a chainsaw and two young men (Zeb and Nathan) helped us clear the driveway so we could park. They refused any pay. Friends helped patch the roof and clear the yard. Several neighbors stopped by and offered help. OPPD went above and beyond to restore power.

What a wonderful community we live in. Thanks to all those who helped in the recovery of this devastating storm.

This organ was "Sharon's" great grandmother's but she couldn't find anyone in her family to take it and she didn't have room. We told her we had a historic home and if all else failed, we would give it a good home. A week later she called. We are now the owners of an 1886 Chicago Cottage Organ. We'll be restoring it this winter. We love antiques!

We enjoy preparing a delicious and attractive breakfast. The Bennington Lions Club have an annual Colorado peach fund raiser. The peaches are delicious! We provided our guests a "Sunflower" dish of Greek yogurt, blackberries and Colorado Peaches. YUM!
