According to the Humane Society, more than half of horses and donkeys brought to sale barns are now being shipped to slaughter facilities outside the United States. A terrible and traumatic journey, many die in cramped trucks on the way, and many suffer multiple blows, remaining alive through dismemberment due to inadequate methods reserved for cattle.

The SAFE Act is a bi-partisan bill (S775 | HR1661) with support from 83% of Americans. It would end this. Allowing for Rescue, Rehome, or Rainbow Bridge (veterinary euthanasia). The Bill has 229 House Cosponsors (more than half the House) but only 8 Senate Cosponsors as of 5-17-26.

We will add, that we recently learned how horses can be mixed up in lawsuits, deemed "assets" and auctioned to kill buyers. No horse deserves this.

We are excited to share that baby chicks will be back this summer! Our 2026 girls will be chirping away in the Gallery this June for guests to visit. This year we focused on breeds known to be excellent winter-layers.
One will even have a polka-dot look to her when she is fully grown.
We can’t wait to meet them and welcome them to our coop. 🐣

It’s that time of year again ☀️☀️☀️
We are ready to change our horses to their summer schedule. This means they are in the barn during the hot afternoon hours (usually around noon-6pm).
During the summer, grooming takes place in the afternoon and grains are fed once a day (instead of twice).

The horses enjoy resting under their fans and staying away from flies during the hottest time of the year.
They will stay on this schedule until October.
