Here are 10 crucial reminders about how to bring all of your emotional intelligence to our collective resistance! πŸ’ͺ🏽🧠πŸ’ͺ🏽

These are from 7 years ago; we must be more disciplined this time.

Some wise advice circulating:
1. Don't use his name;
2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone;
3. Do not argue with those who support him-it doesn't work;
4. Focus on his policies, not his orangeness and mental state;
5. Keep your message positive; they want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow;
6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;
7. Support artists and the arts;
8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;
9. Take care of yourselves and
10. Resist!

Keep demonstrations peaceful. In the words of John Lennon, "When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you - pull your beard, flick your face - to make you fight. Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don’t know how to handle is non-violence and humor."

When you post or talk about him, don't assign his actions to him, assign them to "The Republican Administration," or "The Republicans." This will have several effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don't like; he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections.

So lucky to be sheltering in place with a lovely guest who’s been here since mid-December ... only because her search for a safe, affordable rental has been so fraught! Airbnb says I’m a Super Host, but it’s hard to host when no one is traveling. 😒 Looking forward you meeting you travelers when (if??) that time comes again! I installed a Nest thermostat yesterday to bide the time and save electricity. πŸ’–πŸŒˆπŸ’–

The Homestay is listed on Airbnb Open Homes for refugees from the Kincade and other fires, but for the second time in recent weeks, we have no power. Still, the roof and walls are intact and it’s, for now, a refuge from the flames.

2019 begins with this lovely news! Repeat guests and referrals are welcome. πŸ’–

Heading into Thanksgiving and the holiday season, we realize we have a lot to be thankful for around here: everyone who supports us in delivering the transformative power of play; our incredible partners who use One World Futbols in their programs and inspire us daily with photos, videos and stories...

It's been a long time since there were 6 guests at the Homestay! Delighted to welcome Nick, Michiko, Nona, and Toma, relocating from Tokyo to Berkeley. They just found a beautiful mold-free, chemical-free home to rent nearby. Whoo-hoo!
