Introducing the latest edition of our “People Behind the Product” series, where we celebrate the incredible individuals who make up our diverse team worldwide. We are thrilled to introduce Max Mullins, Communications Specialist.

Coming to us with a degree in Media Studies from UC Berkeley, Max plays a vital role in shaping how Meyer Sound connects with its global community, helping communicate the stories behind all of the work that goes on in Berkeley and beyond. His creativity, attention to detail, and strategic approach strengthen our communications efforts, helping showcase the quality and passion that define the Meyer Sound experience.

To get to know Max better, we asked him a few questions about his work at Meyer Sound and life beyond the office.

Question: What is your favorite Meyer Sound memory?

Answer: I’m not sure I can narrow my three and a half years at Meyer Sound to just one memory. In general, all of my favorite memories have involved spending time getting to know all of the amazing people who work here. The people behind the product, one could say.

Q: What was your first job?

A: My first job worth mentioning was an internship at the Alliance of American Football, a short-lived spring pro football league that, unfortunately, didn’t even make it through its inaugural season. My role was to support the product development team by trialing the league’s companion app, and it was a cool look behind the scenes of my favorite sport.

Q: What book is on your bedside table?

A: The book currently on my bedside table is called “The Genius of Birds” by Jennifer Ackerman. I’m usually more of a sci-fi/fantasy reader, but birding has become one of my favorite hobbies and I’m enjoying learning more about what their brains are capable of. I also just finished the audiobook of Dune.

Q: What does a perfect day off look like for you?

A: A perfect day off for me would include a morning walk in a forest or wetland or around a lake with my camera, looking for birds. I also love spending time with my wife and my dog and watching my favorite sports teams, especially when the 49ers win.

Q: What is an achievement you are proud of?

A: One of my greatest achievements is my fantasy football track record. I have won seven total titles between a few leagues made up of my closest friends, and I put a tremendous—some might say unreasonable—amount of time and emotional investment into it.

Q: Sweet or savory?

A: Tough question, I love both. But if I’m forced to choose, I’d have to lean towards sweet. I can’t resist baked goods and ice cream especially.

Q: Dogs or cats? Do you have any pets?

A: Dogs. I have a dog named Lili, who’s a very sweet poodle mix. She usually comes to work with me, so she can often be found in my office. I also have a corn snake named Luci.

Meyer Sound’s partnership with Montreux Jazz Festival has long been a hotbed of audio innovation. In 2006, Meyer Sound debuted the MJF-212, the first in a line of high-power stage monitors named in honor of the festival, at MJF to improve the artist experience. This tradition continues with our new TIGRA loudspeaker making one of its first festival appearances at this year’s festival.
