The Friends of the Porkies and the Ni-Miikanaake Chapter of the North Country Trail are hosting a group hike on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 6th.
Join us on a segment of the Escarpment Trail/North Country Trail for beautiful views and a visit to the historic Carp Lake Mine site.
We will meet at the Lake of the Clouds parking lot at 10:30am EST and there will be a shuttle for those that want to participate in the 2 mile one way hike.

Thursday Evening Programs are back this summer at the Visitor Center! We will kick off the 2026 season next Thursday, June 4th, at 7:00 PM CST.

Starting tomorrow, May 22nd, the Sylvania Entrance Station will be open for the recreation season. Entrance Station hours and days of operation will be Tuesday - Sunday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST. Closed Mondays.

Starting Monday, May 25th - Memorial Day - we will be switching over to our summer schedule here at the Ottawa National Forest Visitor Center.

We will be open Monday - Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Central Time, closed on Sundays.

We look forward to seeing you this summer at the Visitor Center!
