Located in Berks County, Camp Swatara brings in summer campers of all ages each year to get away from the busyness of life by living in community with friends and connecting with God and nature. Campers live in cabin groups with peers and friends of their own age and gender, spending a week together under the care and supervision of a trained and certified cabin counselor. To find out more about our summer camps, email Program Manager at [email protected], or visit our website - www.campswatara.org. In addition to summer camp, Camp Swatara also makes available an extensive Family Camping Center, complete with over 140 campsites, where families and church groups can spend an extended period of time camping in the great outdoors (tents, RVs, etc). Fun activities like boating, biking, fishing, and gaga are all a part of what makes a great experience at our Family Camping Center. Camp Swatara has welcomed groups whether for the 1st time or the 40th time each year. We host a wide variety of groups from quilters, church groups, family groups, weddings, school groups, and much more.

This year started out quiet with weekend groups here and there. Groups started picking up in mid-April through May when we welcomed local school groups for their outdoor education trips. These trips could be anywhere from 24 hours, to a week long program. We had a pause for our summer camp program, but soon after we were right back to having weekend and weekday retreats throughout July and August. From Labor Day through Thanksgiving we are booked every weekend with a few week day retreats thrown in. We slow down for the holidays but still welcome families to have their holiday gatherings with us. We hope that you will plan your next stay with us.

What better way to get away and volunteer as an On Call Host for our Retreat Center. We are looking for individuals and/or couples to help Camp Swatara by hosting a weekend or more throughout the year for our retreat groups. Camp will provide the training and housing during your stay with us. If you are able and interested or know of someone who would be a perfect fit, please reach out to [email protected] or (717) 933-8510. We have some weekends needed in 2026 and are looking to grow in 2027.
