Weekend in the mud! There’s still so much mud and ash everywhere, but I am grateful for my granddaughter, Laela, whose help meant so much. For a city kid, she sure knows how to play in the mud! One step at a time, together! 💪🏡🌲

Aspen Fire payback! 🔥💨 Just when you think it’s over, Mother Nature reminds you she’s not quite finished yet.

Visitors: a young black bear kept wandering from one tree to the next. Earlier, I spotted another black bear—probably the mama—but she seemed content to stay put.

I also saw a lone doe come through twice this weekend. I put out a bowl of fresh water for the wildlife, especially with the warm weather.

I still have a few hummingbirds visiting too, including the beautiful orange rufous hummingbird. Nature always finds a way to brighten the day.

Thank you all so much for your prayers, good thoughts, and kind messages during this difficult time.
I especially want to thank all my previous travelers, friends,family and guests who reached out, wished me well, and offered their support and help for the cabin. Your care and encouragement meant more than you know.
I’m happy to share that my little cabin in the woods has been saved and made it through the Aspen fire.

Hi family and friends,
I have no new status to report on our beloved ToweringPines Cabin. It is located in the path of the Aspen Acres Fire in southern Colorado (Pueblo/Custer County area). The fire has burned tens of thousands of acres and destroyed many structures, but specific property assessments are still ongoing.
As of now, I don’t know if the cabin is still standing. I’m holding onto hope and continuing to pray that our little cabin in the woods made it through.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I’ll share any updates as soon as I hear something
