A Community Update from Lone Mountain Ranch
As part of our ongoing commitment to being a responsible neighbor and steward of the land, Lone Mountain Ranch will be carrying out a forest management and wildfire mitigation project during our fall shoulder-season closure.
The Ranch will be closed from October 23 through November 20 and will reopen on November 21. During this time, our team will be working to improve forest health, reduce hazardous fuels, and help protect both the Ranch and the surrounding Big Sky community from wildfire risk.
What to expect:
As part of this work, we will be burning accumulated slash piles on Ranch property. Burning is planned for November 1–15, with exact dates depending on weather and ground conditions. During this period, neighbors and passersby may see smoke and visible flames coming from the Ranch.
Safety and oversight:
• A burn permit has been filed with the Big Sky Fire Department.
• All burning will follow applicable regulations and permit requirements, and will take place only in suitable weather and safety conditions.
• The project is being managed in full by our contractor, American Forestry Management, which will oversee all pile burning.
• Signs will be posted along Lone Mountain Trail near the Ranch entrance while burning is underway so commuters know what they are seeing.
We take our responsibility to protect this landscape seriously. This work is an investment in the long-term health of our forests, the safety of our neighbors, and the natural environment that makes Big Sky so special.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on November 21!
