We had a great day on Wild Horse Island celebrating the work of our Park Stewards.

In 2025, Park Stewards contributed over 100 hours of volunteering to keep Flathead Lake State Park safe, clean, and healthy for everyone to enjoy! These days of fun and stewardship included tree plantings, w**d pulls, trail maintainence, and more!

Individual Park Stewards that volunteer 10 hours or at 3 or more events are invited to Wild Horse Island at the end of the season.

🌲SEPTEMBER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!🌲

Join us at Somers Beach State Park on Saturday, September 27 from 10 am to 2 pm to plant trees at one of Montana's newest state parks!

Somers Beach was established as a state park in 2022. Previously an agricultural field, this park has very little vegetation and exists presently as a monoculture. We'll be working to plant a variety of shrubs and trees to reestablish the native ecosystem and support biodiversity that would've existed before this land was used for farming.

Native species include chokecherry, serviceberry, hawthorn, ponderosa pines, and juniper.

Sign up to volunteer using this link: https://forms.office.com/g/HjGk0hjqGK
More information is available in the confirmation email when you sign up.

Please feel free to reach out to Zack Story ([email protected]) or Savannah Malosky ([email protected]) or give us a call at the ranger station (406-837-3041) for more information.

See you there!🌱
